End of Winter Clean Up

Tips for the Clean Up:

1. Take 15 minutes and run through the house to see what you no longer want or need that is in your plain view.

2. Put these items in boxes to get rid of either donate or sell at local consignment shop

3.  Make a list of long term items that you are on the fence about

4. Make a list of kids items that are around the house - it is you as a parent to make the decision as to whether or not the items should leave the house, if you leave it up to the kids you are teaching them that they are in control.  In order to stay orgnaized and on track you need to take charge regarding items in the home.

5. Find one place for all bills and paper work that needs to be reviewed.

How Much? How Many?

Here are some suggestions for home items:

  • Sheets - keep two sets for each bed
  • Towels - two towels for each person and two extra sets for company
  • Pillows - two for each bed
  • Silverware - one everyday set and one good set
  • Dishes - two sets (one good set and one everyday set)
  • Plastic cups for the kids 2 for each child (free space in the cabinet)
  • Pots - 2 small, 1 medium, 2 large, 1 lobster pot

Helping those in Need!

All the extras you have can again go to people that have nothing or have lost everything. Check with your local church  or synogoge first, then move on the local charities around town. There are national charities that you can donate to as well. As mentioned above you can also contact Vietnam Veterans of America at 800-775-8387. They will be happy to pick up your items and give you a donation slip. And the phone number for Big Brothers Big Sisters is 877-399-2570.
